Alleging that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu had forgotten that he was supposed to be a ‘watch dog’ for the people over their problems, the YSR Congress Party on Saturday said that the Leader of the Opposition has instead become a ‘guard dog’ of the Congress party.

YSR Congress Party’s official spokesman Ambati Rambabu told media persons at Sagar Society in Jubilee Hills that Mr Naidu has been devoting his energies to “guarding the Congress government, led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’, instead of carrying out his responsibility of being a ‘watch dog’ of the people and their problems in his capacity as the Leader of the Opposition.”

The YSR Congress leader alleged that Mr Naidu, instead of protecting the issues facing the people, was extending cooperation to the government to cover up its lapses in implementing welfare schemes and programmes.

Mr Rambabu further alleged that Mr Naidu entered into secret negotiations with Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel and has promised to the Congress High Command to protect the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

“That is the reason behind the reluctance of Mr Naidu to show any genuine concern and commitment to get addressed the problems faced by the people. Except raising his voice on farmers’ issues, Mr Naidu has been silent on all other aspects,” the YSR Congress party spokespersons said.

Mr Rambabu also challenged Mr Naidu to introduce No Confidence Motion against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.

“He is the Leader of the Opposition. It is his responsibility to move the No Trust Vote against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government,” Mr Rambabu stated.

He added that Mr Naidu was aware that YSR Congress Party has insufficient numbers to get the No Trust Motion passed.
