What's Behind

Naga Shourya's Lakshya attracted the attention of all as the makers promoted the film as India's first film on the archery sport. The film hit the screens on 10, December 2021. Let us see whether Lakshya hit the bullseye at the box office.

Story Review

He leaves his village for Hyderabad to get him the best training at Kurukshetra Academy. Pardhu also trains hard and at the same time, he falls in love with Rithika (Ketika Sharma). To find out whether Pardhu is able to make his grandfather proud by winning the World Championship in Archery and what role Sarathi (Jagapathi Babu),Rajesh (Kireeti Damaraju), Koda Babu (Viva Harsha), Rahul (Shatru)  got to play in it, watch Lakshya on screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Santosh Jagarlapudi with Lakshya tried to highlight India's forgotten sport archery. Though his idea is good and he starts of in an interesting manner, he failed to maintain the tempo. He followed the routine template and the predictable narration, missing emotions and real twists resulted in testing the patience of the viewers. N

None of the scenes generate interest and viewers can guess the proceedings well ahead. The first half ends in a predictable manner and the second half drags with Jagapathi Babu and Naga Shourya's scenes before the climax. The climax looked pretty ordinary. The game of archery except for a few minutes is not highlighted properly and the training is also not shown in an effective manner. Santosh Jagarlapudi though selected a good concept failed in his execution as his story, screenplay and direction went awry. It looked as though everyone is passing through the motions and just for the sake of it, Naga Shourya flaunted his six-pack abs. Not a single scene touch the emotional chords of the viewers.

Naga Shourya performed his role quite well. He attracted with three different looks in the film. He worked hard and flaunted his six pack.

Ketika Sharma played her role accordingly. She got limited scope for performance. Jagapathi Babu played a typical role. At times his dialogues looked artificial. Sachin Khedekar did well as grandfather. Others like Ravi Prakash, Kireeti Damaraju, Viva Harsha, Satya, Bharat Reddy performed according to their roles. Kireeti got an important role and he performed well. Shatru played the lead villain and he did well. Others performed accordingly.

Kaala Bhairava's music is just ok. Songs are well shot but they are not registered in the minds of the listeners. His background score is ok. He failed to elevate the scenes with his background music. Junaid Siddique's editing could have been far better. There are many drags and repetitive scenes in the film. The cinematography of Ram is ok.

Rating Analysis

Naga Shourya tried to leave all in awe with Lakshya showcasing his archery skills. However routine narration, missing emotional connection, lack of real twists undid his efforts. Considering all the above points, CJ goes with a 2.25 rating for Lakshya.
