Self declared his ‘Aag’ as one of worst made movies in Hindi Cinema, Ram Gopal Varma isn’t coming out of this film’s blues till date. As per a latest update, the Delhi High Court on Monday imposed a fine of Rs.10 Lakhs on RGV and his production house. Delivering the verdict on a case filed by Sascha Sippy alleging for violation of copyrights issues by remaking the blockbuster ‘Sholay,’ the Justice Manmohan Singh said that Varma and others have intentionally and deliberately violated the plaintiff’s exclusive copyright.

The copyrights are vested with Ramesh Sippy and Sascha Sippy is grandson of ‘Sholay’ producers Vijay Sippy and GP Sippy. As per the order RGV Productions Pvt. Ltd, Varma Corporation Ltd and Madhu Varma have to pay a fine of Rs.10 Lakh as punitive damages. From now on, they are also restrained from using the characters Gabbar or Gabbar Singh. In fact, RGV used a similar plot, characters, music, lyrics and background score as it is from the original.

All this led to copyright infringement law imposed on RGV Ki ‘Aag.’ While the original had famous casting of Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Amzad Khan, Jaya Bachchan etc in main leads, the RGV ‘Aag’ has Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Mohan Lal, Sushmita Sen etc. Although, this film was a Box Office disaster… look like Yeh ‘Aag’ Abhi Nahi Bhujegi. Troubles continue to haunt RGV.
