Hindu religious people in Bangladesh who are addicted to Blogging are in danger of losing their lives if any anti-extremist voice is raised. Niloy Chowdary (Neel), aged 40 years, a Bangladeshi blogger known for atheist views is killed brutally by a six members gang armed with machetes in Goran area of capital city Dhaka. For information sake, he is the fourth secularist blogger hacked this year by a suspected new group of Islam militants. Niloy fought for women’s rights and was voice of minority rights in Bangadesh.
Earlier to this, other bloggers from Hindu and Islam background are also killed for expressing their thoughts on internet. Islamic groups labeled these bloggers as atheists, used internet to criticize those who showed belief in God. Despite Niloy filing the complaints on threat to his life with Dhaka police, none of the police followed.
Ananta Bijoy Das, Washiqur Rahman and Avijit Roy were other bloggers murdered in last few months for championing atheism and tackling burning issues like homosexuality. This is horrific to hear about brutal hackings suppressing the freedom of expression.
