The Central Government of India has to finally succumb for the pressure from various sections of Indian public following the uproar over banning nearly 850 porn websites. Union Government has issued a statement yesterday evening on lifting this ban. However those sites promoting child porn will be banned forever in India. This means, the ban is partially lifted and adult content lovers have got their space to enjoy yet again.
Internet Service Providers are given the permission to open and free access for 850 odd websites to protect the Indian cultural fabric, a report said making the ban just temporary. ‘As per the Supreme Court petition pertained to block child pornography, they are to continue to be under ban. Other considerations will be looked only after Supreme Court hearing,’ Telecom Ministry informed.
Telecom Minister Ravishankar Prasad said, Government will comply with observations of Supreme and take action accordingly. Meanwhile, Department of Telecom (DoT) is planning to set up a proper mechanism to regulate the spreading of Internet adult content. A body like Ombudsman is to be set up for taking a final call on all such issues related to porn and adult content.
