Behind the Movie Gabbar Singh: When it’s the name of Pawan Kalyan attached, obviously anticipations will be quite high. Today’s release of ‘Gabbar Singh’ directed by Harish Shankar has already got a big plus in the form of successful music score by DSP. Being a remake of ‘Dabangg,’ let us see how far film reached the expectations of public?
In the Movie Gabbar Singh: In the village of Kondaveedu resides the family of Naidu (Nagineedu) and his wife (Suhasini). It’s second marriage for both of them and they have two children. Among the two, elder one Venkata Ratnam Naidu is highly flamboyant and dazzling with don’t care attitude. Inspired by Gabbar Singh character in the film ‘Sholay,’ Venkata Ratnam Naidu renames himself as ‘Villain’ Gabbar Singh (Pawan Kalyan) who returns to Kondaveedu as Circle Inspector while the younger brother (Ajay) becomes a spoilt brat.
After taking the blessings of his mother, Gabbar Singh joins the duty to take on his first encounter with local goon cum MLA aspirant Siddhappa Naidu (Abhimanyu Singh) and his uncle (Tanikella). As the fierce battle of wits and nerves is yet to begin between Gabbar and Siddhappa Naidu, here comes innocent and cute faced Bhagya Lakshmi (Shruti Hasan), running a fancy shop in market attracts Gabbar Singh. However, she isn’t ready for the marriage proposal due to her own family reasons.
In the mean time, Gabbar Singh’s mother dies all of the sudden. But, the conflict with Siddhappa Naidu further widens with Minister Pradip Kumar (Rao Ramesh) drops the proposal of issuing Assembly Ticket. How Siddhappa Naidu used Gabbar Singh’s brother as a tool for Political benefits? How and when Bhagya Lakshmi agrees for the marriage? How did Gabbar finally put an end to Siddhappa nefarious activities forms the rest.
Values of the Movie Gabbar Singh: Entire movie is filled with unique USP and that is Pawan Kalyan. Yes, he is the heart, soul and mind of Gabbar Singh. After a very long period, Pawan has portrayed such a character which is full of mass mannerisms. Thanks to Harish Shankar for his writing capability which offered enormous scope to deliver effective punches. In fact, it is Pawan Kalyan alone who entertains you throughout outperforming others on the screen. It looks like; all others inclusive of heroine Shruti and villain Abhimanyu have become mere character artists before Pawan. However, Shruti is gorgeous in traditional costumes. Abhimanyu Singh is okay. Suhasini, Nagineedu, Rao Ramesh and Ajay have got little portions. Gayatri of ‘Happy Days’ fame has done a vamp kind of character with luring hardcore voice. Comedy by Ali as Constable Samba, Brahmi as Recovery Agent Ranjit Kumar was just hilarious.
Technically speaking, director Harish Shankar has scripted the entire movie with hero-centric subject. The best part of movie is narration without any boring moments. ‘Dabangg’ script is entirely changed managing Pawan as the only strength full character. Direction wise, Harish would definitely win the love of Power Star Fans. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is the biggest boon. May it be title song or ‘Akasam…’ or ‘Dil Se’ or ‘Kevvu Keka,’ every song has fit well. Unfortunately picturization of ‘Kevvu Keka’ and ‘Yey Pilla’ are disappointing. Cinematography of Jayanan Vincent was very bright and Brahma Kadali’s art wok needs special applause. Goutham Raju shows his flair in editing this kind of subjects. Production values of Ganesh Babu and Parameshwara Arts were top notch.
Out of the Movie Gabbar Singh: Critically speaking ‘Gabbar Singh’ is an average movie for missing of wholesome entertainment. Each and every frame is just filled with Power Star. Difference is Pawan Kalyan is not to disappoint you this time. He excelled as an artist displaying numerous shades. So, for Pawan Fans, this is nothing less than a celebration.
May not be a comparison with original ‘Dabangg’ but ‘Gabbar Singh’ lacks in family drama and emotion. Narration goes pale and purposeless elevating only heroism. In simple, the movie runs only just on hero-centric line with no sufficient scope or support offered from remaining star cast. Core value of ‘Gabbar Singh’ is entertainment with Pawan’s mark. Obviously when you are watching a mass masala flick, no where can you question on cinematic liberties.
Commercially, the movie will open to humongous openings to create new records. Long run at BO is definitely possible because it was long time back that Pawan’s energy is used in positive direction. In B & C Centers, ‘Gabbar Singh’ has all the possibility to stand on top. A Hit talk is definitely guaranteed but will this turn into a Super Hit or Industry Hit will have to be wait and seen.
Cinejosh Verdict of Gabbar Singh: Power Star in Full Swing…Pawan, you have WON!
