A movie like ‘Panjaa’ will obviously secure record openings. Producers and distributors eyeing upon first week collections to cash Pawan Mania have released ‘Panjaa’ in maximum number of screens available in Andhra Pradesh while existing movies like ‘Dookudu,’ ‘Sri Rama Rajyam,’ ‘Solo’ and other tiny films occupied or shared the remaining theatres here and there.
Now, talk of ‘Panjaa’ is almost out in the market giving a chance for medium and small budget films to check their fate on December 16. By then, ‘Panjaa’ falls into second week. On a positive note, we are to see a flurry of nearly 8 movies releasing on the same day of December 16 which happens to be a record of sorts. From Priyamani’s ‘Kshetram’ to Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission Impossible 4’ added with ‘Nuvvekkadunte Nenakkaduntaa,’ ‘Journey,’ ‘Rathi Nirvedam,’ ‘Duniya,’ ‘Deyyam Undaa?,’ ‘Vana Kanya Wonder Veerudu.’
If ‘Panjaa’ continues to remain in maximum number of theatres in second week, then above said 8 films will be slaughtered at BO without getting a screen thus to bring the debate of big producers killing small movies back on to the main stage.
