Thalapathy Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan has cleared CBFC review with cuts and mutes. The board granted an ‘A’ certificate after changes to dialogues, scenes and a character name. Makers are adding the title card “Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu” with Vijay’s name.

CBFC asked for multiple mutes and modifications. A key change was renaming Priyamani’s character as it matched a real officer’s name. The full list of cuts will be published online after certification. Post-production teams are working to lock the final version this week.

If certification wraps on time, Jana Nayagan will release worldwide on July 23. The film missed its original Pongal 2026 date due to delays and an April leak that caused losses. Trade analysts still expect record openings across Tamil Nadu and overseas.

The release is historic as Vijay took oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in May 2026 after TVK’s election win. A sitting CM’s last film has created massive hype. Fans and political supporters are expected to drive huge footfalls, making it one of Tamil cinema’s biggest events.
