After Coolie Before Kaithi 2 Lokesh Kanagaraj To Shoot A Short Film

Kollywood Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up for his next project, a short film that will detail the origin of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The LCU, which includes films like Vikram, Kaithi, and Leo, has gained a massive following among fans and audiences. Before starting work on Kaithi 2, starring Karthi, Lokesh Kanagaraj will focus on this short film, which has been announced to be backed by his banner G Squad and reportedly bought by Netflix.

The short film, which was announced last year, is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the LCU and its interconnected storylines. With a poster captioning "1 shot, 2 stories, 24 hours" and a teaching exercise that led to a "10-minute Prelude to the Origins of LCU," fans are eagerly anticipating the release of this short film. The project will feature music composer Anirudh Ravichander, action choreographers Anbariv, cinematographer Selvakumar, editor Philomin Raj, art director Sateeshkumar, and costume designer Praveen Raja.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming projects include Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, which has completed its shoot and is currently in post-production. The film is set to release on August 14th worldwide and will not be a part of the LCU. Kaithi 2, on the other hand, is expected to go on sets at the end of this year or in early 2026, with Lokesh Kanagaraj likely to make the short film in the gap between these two projects.
