The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, marking a significant development in the investigation. The report, submitted to a special court in Mumbai, concludes that there is no evidence of foul play involved in the actor's death. This decision comes after an extensive probe, which included recording statements from Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant's rumored girlfriend, and others close to him.

The CBI took over the case in August 2020, following a complaint filed by Sushant's father, KK Singh, with the Patna Police. The complaint alleged that Rhea and her family members had misappropriated Sushant's funds, a claim she denied in TV interviews. The investigation also involved collecting Sushant's medical records and examining the forensic evidence. Notably, forensic specialists at AIIMS dismissed claims of "poisoning and strangling" in their medico-legal opinion to the CBI.
