Pawan Kalyan assumes office as Deputy CM of AP. On Wednesday, actor and politician Pawan Kalyan officially took charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada. The ceremony was marked by Vedic chants and the blessings of scholars, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Pawan Kalyan's new role involves overseeing several key departments, including Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Forest, Environment, Rural Protected Fresh Water Scheme, and Science and Technology.
The ceremony took place at his camp office in Suryaaraopet, Vijayawada. Pawan Kalyan's appointment was marked by his signing the first officiating document, confirming his new position. He was welcomed with enthusiasm and respect as he entered his chamber, which now bears the signboard “Sri. Pawan Kalyan, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister,” an image that has since trended on social media.
Shri Konidala Pawan Kalyan's initial actions included signing documents related to an employment guarantee scheme for horticultural crops and the construction of panchayat buildings in tribal villages. Key officials present included PR and RD Chief Secretary Mr. Shasibhushan Kumar, Commissioner Mr. Kannababu, and PCCF of the Forest Department Mr. Chiranjeevi Chaudhary.
The event saw the attendance of various ministers, party MLAs, and leaders. Notably, Mr. Nadendla Manohar, Secretary of Civil Supplies, greeted Pawan Kalyan with a warm hug, and Tourism Minister Mr. Kandula Durgesh also extended his congratulations. Other prominent figures present were party MP Mr. Tangella Uday Srinivas and several MLAs, reflecting the significant support within the party and government.
After the ceremony, Pawan Kalyan began his departmental duties, conducting reviews of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Departments. As the representative of the Pithapuram assembly constituency, he brings a fresh perspective to his new role, having won his seat with a substantial margin in the recent elections.
Pawan Kalyan, who leads the Janasena Party, will handle multiple portfolios, further solidifying his commitment to the state's development. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu assigned these responsibilities to him earlier this week. Despite his initial hesitation due to his acting commitments, Pawan Kalyan joined the cabinet to fulfill election promises and serve his constituents.
The Janasena Party, as part of the NDA alliance with TDP and BJP, achieved a remarkable 100% strike rate in the recent elections, securing all 21 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats it contested. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Pawan Kalyan, referring to him as a "storm," highlighting his influential presence in Andhra Pradesh politics.
