RP Patnaik reacts to Garividi Lakshmi controversial content. Garividi Lakshmi, a biopic on Uttara Andhra folk singer Garividi Lakshmi, which was released few weeks back is doing good in AP.

The film starred Aanandhi in the lead role and is helmed by Gouri Naidu Jammu. The film has a content on how Garividi Lakshmi was promised opportunities in the film industry and how many deceived her. They showed popular music director RP.Patnaik took the tunes from Garividi Lakshmi and left her in the lurch. The scene showed RP.Patnaik promised a chance in films but cheated her.

Following this, RP.Patnaik, reacted to the controversy. He said the folksongs of Uttara Andhra is not the property or sole right of few persons. Many songs have been in the region and got popular since thousands of years. He added that he will not stoop low to put the songs of Garividi Lakshmi in his films. He said he met her during Chitram success meet along with the lyricist Kulasekhar and director Teja.

He said it was wrong that he met her before he entered the industry. He said that Gouri Naidu kept those scenes in the film and questioned why he didnot meet him and sought his permission. He said producer Viswa Prasad met him and told that they are making a film on Garividi Lakshmi and asked for Telephone interview. He shared " During that time, when I was telling him that I met her after I came to the industry, he interrupted me and asked me to tell that I met her before I came into the industry. I agreed as I don't want to kill the small film"

He said however after the release, he understood that people started viewing him as a cheater. All this was wrong and he told that had he knew earlier that they would include them in the film, he wouldn't have given such interview. He said he did his best to take Uttara Andhra songs to next level irrespective of whether they belong to Garividi Lakshmi or others. Uttara Andhra songs donot belong to Garividi Lakshmi.
