Reason behind Suriya-Sudha Kongara project delay. Suriya and director Sudha Kongara are set to reunite for 'Puranaanooru' following the success of 'Soorarai Pottru'. While the film was announced in October 2023, it is yet to commence filming. Addressing the delays, Suriya recently shared a statement about the project's status, assuring fans that it is progressing despite the extended timeline.

In his statement released on March 18, Suriya expressed, "'Puranaanooru' requires more time. This collaboration is very special and close to our hearts. We are working towards delivering our best. We will be commencing filming very soon."

The announcement for 'Puranaanooru' in October 2023 was accompanied by a special video introducing the ensemble cast, which includes Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Nazim, and Vijay Varma in lead roles.

Tentatively titled 'Suriya 43', a part of the title was unveiled as 'Puranaanooru'. This project will mark GV Prakash Kumar's 100th film as a composer. Jointly produced by 2D Entertainment and Meenakshi Cinemas, the film is expected to be a compelling narrative about guns and revolution.
