Pahalgam attack: How airlines tried to loot people in grief

Airlines tried to cash in to the grief of people during Pahalgam attack. It is known that though Hindus are the majority in the country, they always get the second or even the third class treatment. During Hindu festivals like Sankranti, Dasara etc, Railways, Public and Private Buses and Airlines double the prices and make merry looting the people.

Hindus silently pay as they have to go to their native places to celebrate festivals with their near and dear ones. Even during the Mahakumbh Mela, Airlines, buses and railways looted people by increasing the charges by four to five times. But what shocked all is, the Airlines did the same during Pahalgam attack in Kashmir.

When terrorists struck mercilessly singling out Hindus and shooting them point-blank and in the hour of grief and tragedy instead of helping the victims’ families, Airlines increased the charges four times. It was left to the Civil Aviations Minister to step in and bring in sanity.

Ticket prices for a one-way economy seat from Srinagar to Delhi reportedly surged to ₹65,000, up from the usual ₹6,000-8,000. Flights to Mumbai and Bangalore followed suit, crossing ₹30,000 in many cases. These numbers weren't mere market fluctuations - they were a mirror of a morally dislocated algorithm.

This was in stark contrast when government offers subsidies to other religions for Haj and Jerusalem pilgrimage. Indian Government even stepped in and ran free flights to bring Indians struck during Gulf war and Japanese political turmoil.
