Contesting its maiden elections, all eyes in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh assembly polls will be on Janasena Party led by Pawan Kalyan. Unlike in 2014, when Kalyan supported TDP and BJP’s pre-poll alliance and didn’t contest, this time the JSP has joined hands with left parties and the BSP to take on the mainstream parties.
Though Pawan is not expected to emerge as a winner, political analysts say that the party might play a key role in deciding the outcome. Pawan Kalyan belongs to the Kapu community, which holds a significant numerical advantage in Godavari districts.
Meanwhile, during poll campaigning, JSP candidates are threatened by YSRCP leaders. One such incident has come to light in Bheemili. When Janasena Party Bheemili MLA candidate Dr Sandeep was campaigning, a YSRCP supporter threatened him for his comment on YSRCP candidate Avanthi Srinivas.
The YSRCP supporter threatened Mr Sandeep not to talk about Avanthi Srinivas stating, he didn’t have the stature to take Avanthi’s name. Sandeep stood strongly and cautioned public, “Do we really need Rowdy Politics.”
