The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to expel former minister Jc Diwakar Reddy from the party for indiscipline.
The decision was taken after PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana was discharged from the hospital here on Tuesday. Since Diwakar Reddy is the sitting MLA from Tadipatri, Botsa needs to take a formal approval from the All India Congress Committee to endorse his expulsion. Therefore, he wrote a letter to the AICC asking them to sack Diwakar Reddy as the latter had made serious comments agaisnt Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir, who addressed the media along with Bota, said that Diwakar Reddy should introspect himself before making remarks against Sonia Gandhi. He said that Diwakar Reddy and his brother would lose their identity in the district without the Congress party. He claimed that Diwakar Reddy and his brother would find no place in any political parties after their exit from Congress.
It may be mentioned that Diwakar Reddy had sought the resignation of Congress president Sonia Gandhi from the post following party's drubbing in four Assembly elections.
