Ysr Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy began indefinite fast at his party office Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills here on Saturday.
Jagan went on indefinite hunger strike in protest against the Union Cabinet's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana State. He launched fast along with other party leaders at around 11.30 AM.
It may be mentioned that Jagan undertook a similar fast for Samaikhyandhra last month while he was lodged in Chanchalguda Jail in the Disproportionate Assets case. However, he was shifted to a hospital by the jail authorities when his health condition deteriorated after five days.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police following threats by pro-Telangana groups that they would disrupt the fast.
