Vijayamma targets Cong in her maiden assembly speech

Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayamma on Monday accused the Congress of targeting the family of an individual who brought the party to power in the State.

In her maiden speech, Vijayamma recalled that her late husband YS Rajasekhara Reddy struggled a lot to bring the Congress party to power. "It is highly painful to vote against the government which was originally formed by YSR," she said while supporting the No Confidence Motion. She said that her party was forced to take the "tough decision" as the State Government has ignored all the schemes started by YSR.

Participating in the discussion on the No Confidence Motion, Vijayamma slammed the Congress MLAs for protesting against the constitution of a House Committee against YSR's decision or the inclusion of his name in a FIR. She said her family was thrown out of the Congress party after YSR's death. "Jagan went to Delhi to seek permission for Odarpu Yatra and not the Chief Minister's seat," she said.

Vijayamma also accused the Telugu Desam Party of being anti-farmers. However, she said that her party was supporting the No Confidence Motion moved by the TDP as it was related to the farmers' issue. She made an emotional appeal to all Congress MLAs to vote against the government, if they still loved YSR.
