The process for disqualifying the four Congress MLAs supporting YSR Congress Party president formally began on Saturday with the serving of notices to them by the State Legislature Secretary S Raja Sadaram on the orders of Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar.

Mr Sadaram served notices to the four MLAs Adinarayana Reddy representing Jammalamadugu, Amarnath Reddy representing Rajampet, Srikanth Reddy of Rayachoti and Konda Surekha of Parkal, seeking their explanation why they should not be disqualified from the State Legislative Assembly for indulging in anti-Congress on whose ticket they were elected. The MLAs have a week’s time to submit their replies.

Earlier, the Chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka and Whip Kondra Murali had formally requested the Deputy Speaker to disqualify the MLAs under the Anti-Defection Law.

The PCC Secretary Anand Bhaskar had on Thursday served notices on the four MLAs on behalf of PCC president D Srinivas.

The PCC will initiate action on the MLAs, based on their response.

The Legislators have been openly participating in the YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Kadapa by-election campaign violating the party rules and regulations and affecting the chances of official candidates DL Ravindra Reddy and YS Vivekananda Reddy.

This issue was pending since last four months. This decision was taken to prevent other legislators and serve as lesson to them.

Earlier, PCC chief D Srinivas and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy discussed on serving notices to legislators under anti-party activities.
