IAF Commander Dad Connection To Cheliya

Entire nation is praying for the safe release of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was held captive by Pakistan army after his MIG 26 crashed across the border in the heightened tensions between India Pakistan after IAF strikes inside Pakistan which destroyed terrorist camps.

In the midst of all this, it is coming out that star director Maniratnam consulted Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's father for his film Kaatru Veliyidai (Cheliya in Telugu) which starred Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari.

The film was all about Kargil War and an Indian Air Force fighter jet is shot down by Pakistan. Karthi played the role of Sqn Ldr Varun Chakrapani in the film.

Maniratnam during that time consulted Abhinandan Varthaman's father Air Marshal Varthaman for inputs for the film. What Maniratnam portrayed in the film and the worst fears of Varthaman came true when his son Abhinandan was held captive.

Karthi who played the lead role in the film said, "I'm very fortunate to have met a few of our fighter pilots in #IAF. It's a true honor to know them and they are men of a different league. I sincerely pray for the safe return of our warriors."
