Ramayana Part 1 World Wide Break Even Target

Ramayana is being planned on a scale rarely seen in Indian cinema, but its reported budget brings huge box office pressure. The first part reportedly needs more than ₹2,000 crore in worldwide gross collections to break even, making it one of the toughest targets for an Indian film.

The makers have reportedly put the combined budget for both parts, including global marketing, at around ₹4,000 crore. Part 1 alone is said to cost nearly ₹1,400 crore. Digital, satellite and other non theatrical deals can recover part of this amount, but the theatrical business still needs to deliver a massive return.

Based on the reported figures, the producers need a theatrical share of over ₹900 crore from Part 1, which could require worldwide gross collections above ₹1800 crore. No Indian film has reached that mark during its original worldwide theatrical run. Dangal crossed the range later with help from its China release.

Ramayana is aiming for audiences beyond India, with an English version and international distribution handled by Sony Pictures. Its opening will be closely watched, as strong word of mouth and overseas collections could shape expectations for Part 2.
