Inspirations and remakes are nothing new to Indian cinema. Hit films in Bollywood are imported to South and vice-versa does happen depending upon the suitability of a story and script to a particular hero. In that sense, from Anil Kapoor to Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, everyone in Hindi industry enjoyed tremendous success only by remaking Telugu and Tamil super hits. This time, the subject of remakes from Telugu to Hindi is gaining importance with Mahesh Babu ‘Srimanthudu’ evolving as a new blockbuster.
The village adoption concept highly promulgated by Narendra Modi in North and Chandrababu Naidu in South has been the strong story element in ‘Srimanthudu.’ Migrating from village to city or a town in search of better livelihood and better education for off springs only to realize later on serving something back to the roots is a fascinating theory many film makers tried at. Apparently, ‘Srimanthudu’ alone saw a big commercial success. In fact, ‘Swades’ from Shah Rukh Khan was on similar lines hasn’t seen a hit verdict due to realistic treatment without any commercial ingredients.
Latest rumors on Salman Khan inquiring about ‘Srimanthudu’ led to a speculation on a possible Hindi remake. However, Bollywood sources have informed Salman on never to attempt such script because of difference in nativities. Commercializing a noble concept can be accepted here in South where heroism dominates everything else. Same is not applicable in Bollywood. So, none other than Mahesh Babu can suit as ‘Srimanthudu.’
