Mega Prince Varun Tej who has been reeling under the string of flops, after a long gap is now getting ready to test his luck with his upcoming film Korean Kanakaraju. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Netflix for a fancy sum. The film is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi is releasing on 7 August 2026. Let us see how the film entertained movie lovers.

Korean Kanakaraju story revolves around a villager whose life takes a drastic turn due to unforeseen circumstances and how he overcomes them. Kanakaraju ( Varun Tej) a villager who works hard to repay his debt in Penugonda, gets attracted to a beautiful girl Chaitra ( Rithika Nayak).

Even as he tries to woo her, the shocking happenings involving his brother Prithviraj ( Avasarala Srinivas),MLA Chenga Reddy (Sunil) and what role his friend Krishnappa (Satya), his father ( Muralidhar Goud), Diwakar ( VTV Ganesh) and others form the interesting part.

Varun Tej played the lead role to perfection. He showed variations in his role according to the situation. He as a villager attracted with his dialogue delivery, mannerisms and Rayalaseema accent. He danced energetically and performed stunts with ease.

He stuns all in the role of the dreaded gangster, and he transformed completely with his look and body language. He makes a style statement with his swag, and his hairstyle overall is impressive.

Rithika Nayak got a minimal role in the film. She got confined to playing second fiddle. She looked gorgeous on the screen.

Satya created a laughing riot with his hilarious antics. His dialogue delivery, mannerisms and expressions entertained all.

Muralidhar Goud is good and VTV Ganesh is ok in his role tailor made for him. Others like Avasarala Srinivas, Sunil performed according to their roles.

Korean Kanakaraju (2026) Movie: Technicians Review

Korean Kanakaraju story is penned by Merlapaka Gandhi. He came up with a hilarious horror thriller to entertain movie lovers. He starts the narration in a stylish manner in Korea before moving to Penugonda . After the introduction of protagonist in a typical mass way he shows the heroine. The narration treads in a familiar trope and screenplay assumes a routine flavor. To the top of it, the over usage of Korean language puts off the viewers. The interval sequence and the possession of the spirit excites all, setting the tone for the second half.

The second half's gangster role is dragged to the core. While few comedy scenes involving Varun Tej and Satya evoked laughter, others looked forced. The climax takes everyone by surprise and though looked different didn't leave the desired impact. The story ends in a funny way with the lead to the sequel.

Thaman's music offered nothing new. The songs are few and didn't make much impact. Thaman's background music followed the same template. He however with the background music elevated the scenes. Manojh Reddy with his Cinematography showed the scenes in a realistic way. CGI and VFX looked subpar. Editing of Satya G left a lot to be desired. Dialogues are ok and couple of them are hilarious. Production values are good.

Altogether, Korean Kanakaraju turns out to be a hilarious entertainer. Varun Tej came up with an impressive and terrific performance. However, Merlapaka Gandhi though came up with an interesting story, he ended up confusing viewers with lot of Korean language dialogues and also few unnecessary scenes. Had he done away with them and turned the script stronger and Screenplay tighter, things would have been different. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Korean Kanakaraju.
