Puri Jagannath addressed the media the other day to talk about his new film The Businessman. The director spoke on several issues. The audio of the film is a hit. However the music director of the film SS Taman has been the target of critics as the tunes have been ‘inspired’ by other hit songs from other films.
Puri Jagannath came to the defense of his music director. Puri said that the tunes are not copied by ‘inspired’. He also said that it was his idea to use the tunes and so Taman is not to be blamed. Puri said that it was a small matter and not an issue at all. Puri mentioned that entire films are being plagiarized and mere lifting a few tunes was not crime. It is good to see the director standing firmly behind his music director. However it is not at all correct to defend plagiarism. We have to see how far this will raise the morale of Taman as he is still smarting under from criticism of plagiarism.
