Love and War Set Tragedy Sparks Compensation Demand

A tragic accident happened on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War. Reports say 42 year old carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav died due to electric shock at Royal Pump Studio in Mumbai’s Film City while Alia Bhatt was shooting. Preliminary findings suggest a short circuit caused the electrocution. Chandradhari is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
Following the incident, Bhansali Productions offered 40 lakh rupees as compensation to the family. News reports also mention the crew member had been working long hours from 7 am to 3 am for three days straight before the accident.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees FWICE has asked the makers to increase the compensation to 50 lakh rupees. Reports say FWICE president stated that a higher amount is needed to secure the education and future of Chandradhari’s young daughters. The body has also requested the production house to provide employment to his wife so the family has a stable income.
FWICE is further calling for stricter safety measures and streamlined work hours for technicians on sets. Love & War is a period drama starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. It marks Ranbir and Alia’s first film together after Brahmastra and reunites Vicky with both co-stars. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 21, 2027.
