Retro not meant for Suriya. Suriya’s project Retro with Karthik Subbaraj is generating immense interest among movie lovers. The film is slated for a grand release on 1 May 2025. The film's teaser and trailer got good response and the makers are promoting the film in a big way.

Now speaking to scribes, Karthik Subbaraj made startling revelations. He said he penned Retro story not for Suriya but keeping in view Thalapathy Vijay. He said when he penned the story it was an out and out action entertainer and when he narrated it to Suriya, it turned into a romantic flick.

He revealed that even Suriya asked whether he narrated the story to Super Star Rajinikanth. Pooja Hegde is the female lead in the film which stars Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj in key roles.

The music for the film is tuned by Santosh Narayananan and the film is produced by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Creations.
