Akshay Kumar on Cong, BJP slugfest. Akshay Kumar linedup multiple films and he is currently starring in Kesari 2 which is releasing on 18 April 2025. The film directed by Karan Singh Tyagi is about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the events unfolded after that and is based on the book 'The Case That Shook The Empire' by Pushpa Palat and Raghu Palat .
The film showcases C Sankaran Nair, a lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress who fights against the British in the court over the massacre and Akshay Kumar is playing the lead role. In the midst of all this, BJP accused Congress of ignoring the historical figures.
Reacting to it, Akshay said "I am not a historian. I am just an actor. What somebody is saying, what any politician is saying — I am not going to get into that. I just made this film, and I just want people to realise what happened."
He continued to explain, "We made it according to the book — whatever I understood, whatever stories I heard from my father — the film is an amalgamation of all those. Beyond that, who said what politically, I don't want to get into it."
Earlier, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar posted "Chettur Sankaran Nair was a prominent Indian lawyer, statesman, and former president of the Indian National Congress (INC) in 1897 - but has been erased out the Cong history. He is remembered even today for his legal battles—like his case against Michael O’Dwyer who perpetrated the Jallianwala Bagh massacre (sic)."
