A source shares "The decision was made by the producers. As the director also nodded to the decision, the filmmakers went for editing and re-censoring. There will only be minute changes that do not affect the content of the film," Earlier the producer Gokulam Gopalan said that they will take corrective steps if the people's sentiments are hurt.

He said "Some words have been muted for the time being. There have been protests for certain things shown in the movie and I have asked the director, if he can make any changes. He should. The film was censored, there were no issues then. We have no connection with any political party, I see politics as a service,"  and added "If any scenes or dialogues shown in the movie Empuraan hurt anyone, I have told director Prithviraj to make changes."

Kerala Film Producers Association's official said  "We had discussed this issue of re-censoring with the censor board and came to know that it is a voluntary move. The censor board has not demanded any changes. The producers decided to remove a few portions,"
