Controversy erupts as Mohanlal prays at Sabarimala

Mohanlal prays for Mammootty at Sabarimala. Mohanlal is getting ready to entertain viewers with his film L2-Empuraan. The film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran is slated for grand release on 27 March 2025. Even as movie lovers are excited, a huge controversy erupted with Mohanlal praying for Mammootty's speedy recovery at the holy shrine of Sabarimala.

The receipt of Mohanlal praying for Mammootty with his birth name Muhammed Kutty, and his birth star 'Visakham' went viral on social media. The receipt was offered by the Devaswom office, and it indicated that Mohanlal performed an 'usha pooja' for his friend, Mammootty.

Mohanlal speaking about it after the controversy erupted "What's wrong in praying for him? He is doing well. He had a minor health issue, but that's normal for everyone. There is nothing to worry about."

After Mohanlal claimed that some one from the Devaswom Board leaked the receipt, The Sabarimala  Devaswom Board said that a part of the receipt given to the devotees was leaked. They reiterated that the staff member will only have the counter foil with them. "It could be due to a misunderstanding that Mohanlal made such a statement. Hopefully he will correct it."

Sometime  back rumours spread that Mammootty was suffering from cancer. However, his team clarified  "It is fake news,"  and added "He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramzan. He is on a break from his shoot schedule as well because of that. In fact, after the break, he will go back to shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film with Mohanlal."
