Sohum Shah's Tumbbad 2 is all set to go on floors with a massive budget of Rs 100 crore. Despite the significant budget, several studios have shown interest in the project. This is a stark contrast to the original film, which struggled to find distributors during its production phase. Sohum Shah had to sponsor the movie himself, but it eventually received immense love when it re-released in theatres in 2024.

The sequel's story has been confirmed, and the pre-production work has commenced. The film is likely to start shooting around the end of summer this year. It's worth noting that the original film's director, Rahi Anil Barve, and Sohum Shah have had differing opinions on the possibility of a sequel. While Sohum Shah claimed that Tumbbad was never intended to be a part of a larger franchise, Barve revealed that he had penned stories for a trilogy but no longer wishes to pursue the world of Tumbbad.

The original film's ending saw the leading character become the embodiment of greed, transforming into the Hastar monster. It will be interesting to see how the sequel builds upon this concept. Given that the sequels are likely to have different stories from the original film, fans are eagerly waiting to see what's in store. With a significant budget and a confirmed story, Tumbbad 2 is shaping up to be an exciting project.

As Sohum Shah gears up to start shooting for Tumbbad 2, fans are hoping that the sequel will live up to the expectations set by the original film. With its unique blend of horror and drama, Tumbbad has become a cult classic, and the sequel has big shoes to fill.
