Kalki 2 Continues The Universe On A Much Bigger Scale
Kalki 2898 AD crossed the ₹1,000 crore worldwide milestone, eventually reaching around ₹1,042 crore, establishing the film on a massive pan Indian scale. The Nag Ashwin directorial blended science fiction, mythology and futuristic world building, setting a strong commercial and visual benchmark for its highly anticipated sequel.
Following the film’s two National Awards, Nag Ashwin revealed that Kalki 2 will continue in the same cinematic world. He indicated that the characters established in the first film remain important to the sequel, while the story will explore their journeys and unresolved conflicts on a much larger emotional and production scale.
The sequel will further develop the world involving Prabhas’ Bhairava, Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama, Deepika Padukone’s SUM-80 and Kamal Haasan’s Supreme Yaskin. Nag Ashwin previously explained that the first film could not fully explore these characters, leaving substantial action, backstories and narrative threads for Part 2.
Kalki 2 is now moving into regular production, with shooting scheduled to begin in October 2026 and expected to continue into mid 2027. The National Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Production Design have further strengthened the franchise’s scale and expectations surrounding its next chapter.
