Vidaamuyarchi, Pattudala in Telugu starring Ajith, has turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office, resulting in a significant loss for Lyca Productions. The film, made on a huge budget of around 250 crores, received negative reviews and failed to impress audiences. To make matters worse, the production house had to shell out an additional 20 crores for remake rights issues, leading to a total budget of 270 crores.

The film's poor performance has resulted in a 100-crore loss for Lyca Productions. Despite having a star-studded cast, including Arjun, Trisha, and Regina, the film was unable to recover its costs. Ajith's remuneration alone was reportedly around 100 crores, while the rest of the cast and crew members were paid around 50 crores. The film's theatrical collection of around 145 crores gross, with a share of 60-65 crores worldwide, was insufficient to cover the production costs.

Lyca Productions has been facing a series of financial setbacks, starting with Indian 2, Chandramukhi 2, and Lal Salaam. The production house is now pinning its hopes on its upcoming film, L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal. Made on a huge budget, the film's performance is crucial for Lyca Productions' financial recovery. Slated for release on March 27, L2: Empuraan's success is essential to help the production house recover from the losses incurred by Vidaamuyarchi.

The non-theatrical business of Vidaamuyarchi / Pattudala including satellite and streaming rights, was reportedly sold for around 110 crores. However, this was insufficient to offset the film's massive production costs. With a total business of around 170 crores, Vidaamuyarchi's failure has resulted in a significant financial blow to Lyca Productions. The production house will be hoping that L2: Empuraan will help them bounce back from this setback.
