A complaint was filed at a police station here on Wednesday against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members for allegedly hurting religious sentiments over a viral video showing them celebrating Christmas. No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case yet.
Ranbir Kapoor who is currently basking in the super success of Animal has found himself in the controversy following the circulation of a viral video from his recent Christmas celebrations. Ranbir Kapoor is seen in the video pouring liquor on a cake and then igniting it while chanting, "Jai Mata Di". Allegedly this act has stirred discontent among some sections.
Sanjay Tiwari, who filed the complaint at Ghatkopar police station through his lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, under sections 295 (A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Mumbai's Ghatkopar Police Station.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia along with their daughter Raha, and Agastya Nanda, among others, attended the Kapoor family's annual Christmas brunch held at late actor Shashi Kapoor's residence on Monday.
