Karthi Japan To Drop On Netflix For Streaming

Karthi's landmark, 25th film titled 'Japan' was released on 10th November for Diwali. The film, featuring an intriguing plot around a gold burglar, generated considerable buzz upon its release. Despite the initial hype, "Japan" fell short of box office expectations in both Tamil and Telugu markets.

Released alongside Karthik Subbaraj's "Jigarthanda Double X," the latter received positive reviews, surpassing "Japan" and emerged as the box office champion.

Reports indicated that "Japan" marked a significant setback in actor Karthi's career, with a rapid decline in theatre screenings just a week after its release. The dwindling number of theatres showcasing the film prompted plans for its swift release on OTT platforms. In various cities, screenings of movies like "Leo" and "Jigarthanda Double X" took precedence following the removal of "Japan" from theaters.

There's a buzz that Japan might stream on Netflix between December 1st or 8th, though there's no official confirmation yet. The news of its Netflix release is trending, and an official announcement is anticipated soon. Reportedly, Netflix secured the digital rights for about Rs.20 crores, intending to stream the movie in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
