Suman is an actor par excellence and in a career spiraling over four decades, he endeared himself to all by starring in memorable films. He starred in more than 700 films in ten languages and though he was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, during his hay days he went on to rule Tollywood before destiny had other ideas.
Suman scored many memorable hits and blockbusters including Tharangini (1982), Neti Bharatam (1983), and Sitaara (1984). His powerful performance in films like Neti Bharatam and Sitaara turned him into an overnight star. Offers flooded him from all quarters and his qualification as a well-trained martial arts expert became an added advantage. When he was about to rule Tollywood, he was implicated in false cases and he was left behind in the race for stardom.
However, Suman did not lose heart and made a powerful comeback. He reinvented himself and as Lord Venkateswara in Nagarjuna's Annamayya under the direction of K. Raghavendra Rao, he lived in the memories of all. People started worshipping him as Lord Venkateswara from then on. He went on to star in devotional films and enthralled all in the roles of Lord Ram and Lord Shiva.
He reached the pinnacle when he won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film Bava Bavamaridi in 1993. He then transformed himself doing character and negative roles. He made his presence felt in films like Rajinikanth's Sivaji (2007) and Kuruvi (2008). He was cast as the main antagonist in the Malayalam movie Sagar alias Jacky (2009). He also made his Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar's Gabbar is Back in 2014.
Suman is now hogging the media limelight for his political statements regarding the current political situation and the performances of CM Jagan in AP and CM KCR in Telangana.
