The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday was not inclined to pass any favourable order in the petition filed by Chamundeswaranath, former secretary of Andhra Cricket Association.Chamundeswaranath filed a petition seeking to quash the complaints registered by the Machavaram police at Vijayawada and said that he is likely to be arrested and harassed.
The judge said these were bailable sections and the interference of High Court was not warranted.
The Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Vijayawada allowed the city police to include Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code in the FIR filed against Chamundeswaranath. Magistrate M Vengayya also transferred the case to First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court.
The Court posted the Chamundeswarinath’s petition for further hearing on August 20. The Court also directed the authorities not to take any action on Chamundeswarinath till further directions.The State Government instituted a one man commission of inquiry headed by Director General of Police M G Ratan to probe into the molestation charges against Chamundeswarinath. The Commission, after enquiry, confirmed the charges against the ACA Secretary.
