The leader of the Opposition, Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu met the floor leaders of opposition parties in his chambers on Thursday. The meeting was focused on the strategies to be adopted as the Government refused to constitute a house committee to probe into the controversial issue of Obulapuram Mines in the House. The Tdp on Thursday alleged large scale irregularities in Obulapuram mining and demanding the constitution of a House committee to probe into the issue of Obulapuram Mines. The mining site of Obulapuram near Rayadurgam in Anantapur district was allotted to Obulapuram Mining Corporation.
Refuting the charges made by the Chief Minister Dr. Y S rajasekhara Reddy that the issue was only between two parties the Tdp chief said it is an issue between two states.Recalling the incident when Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta had found that the OMC, which has a mining lease in the state, had encroached upon the area belonging to Karnataka, the Tdp chief explained the issue.
As reported earlier, the Tdp which made a hue and cry about the mining activity in Obulapuram forced the Government to appoint an all-party team to visit the site and the mining activity there. Except for Tdp all other parties gave a clean chit about the mining activity there. The problem which still remains to be solved is regarding the issue of irregularities in leasing the mines.
