Superstar Rajinikanth, who was undergoing treatment for allergic bronchitis and high fever for the past few days at St Isabel Hospital in Chennai, was discharged on Tuesday.
According to reports reaching here, the hospital described health as having improved and said that he was doing fine.
The 60-year-old actor was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of St Isabel Hospital at Mylapur the second time last Wednesday night for allergic bronchitis and high fever.
"He is suffering from allergic bronchitis and fever. The cause is exhaustion. He is advised rest for a couple of days. His condition is stable," S N Sai Kishore, a doctor at St Isabel Hospital had told reporters then.
Earlier he was admitted to the ICU of the hospital after a bout of vomiting and was discharged in the evening. At that time, it was said that the actor fell sick after eating something.
Rajinikanth is currently shooting for his latest film 'Rana', in which he plays a triple role. The film, in which he is paired opposite Bollywood heroine, Deepika Padukone, went on the floors the day Rajini was first hospitalised.
