Coronavirus pandemic resulted in stalling of shootings, closure of theatres. It is not clear when normalcy returns. However, business deals for the upcoming films are going on in full swing. Few producers already decided to release their films whenever theatres are thrown open.
Distributors are also competing to acquire the rights of the films according to the craze and trust in the films. Producers of the low budget films are already planning to find deals with reputed OTTs. Though the film industry came to a standstill, business deals are picking up. Most of the films are under the final stages of shooting and distributors are showing interest in acquiring those rights.
Warangal Srinivas acquired the rights of Ravi Teja's Krack, Gopichand's Seeti Maarr, Sharwanand's Srikaram and Rana's Virataparvam for Nizam region. Srinivas already revealed that he is holding discussions to acquire the rights of many more star heroes films.
Film industry sources feel people who have been confined to houses and bereft of entertainment will throng theatres if they get confidence that they will be safe there. They are also confident that there will be more business once the theatres are open. That's the reason why business establishments are showing interest in new films.
Warangal Srinivas says, “We cannot stop people once a vaccine comes for corona. All the 24 crafts are confident over the future and so we are acquiring the distribution rights happily."
After corona, film industry business dealings changed. Many films started targeting OTTs while star heroes films are planning their film releases in theatres. Many films that are ready for release are selecting OTTs as the producers feel that they would incur losses if people do not come to theatres as usual after they are opened.
