PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday justified the expulsion of six Seemandhra MPs from the Congress party.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Botsa said that the expulsion of MPs would not affect the Congress party in the State. Further, he said that their expulsion was not connected with the Telangana Bill. He said that the Congress party gave complete freedom to its leaders to express their views on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the legislators were allowed to freely express their views on Telangana and similar permission was given to the MPs.
However, Botsa alleged that the MPs hatched a conspiracy to attack the Congress party in order to ground to join other parties. As part of the conspiracy, they moved a No Confidence Motion. He said that the Seemandhra MPs used bifurcation issue as a tool for their own political mileage.
Botsa said that the Congress party should have taken the decision of expulsion long back. He said that the expelled MPs got elected due to the party and they had no identity of their own. He also dismissed reports that Congress party would have no candidates to contest the next elections. There are over 500 aspirants of Congress ticket for each seat in the State, he claimed.
