The Congress party on Monday demanded that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao withdraw the remarks that he made on ruling party over the Telangana issue.

Addressing a joint press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, PCC General Secretary G Niranjan and Kisan Cell chairman M Kodanda Reddy said that before leveling allegations against the Congress party, the TRS chief should prove his sincerity towards the Telangana issue. They said if KCR was honest, then instead of accepting the post of Union Minister in 2004, he should have continued the agitation in New Delhi for Telangana.

The Congress leaders also accused the TRS chief of selling party tickets to the aspirants instead of nominating the genuine workers in 2009 elections.

Kodanda Reddy said that only Congress party could give Telangana State. He said that the announcement of Telangana on December 9, 2009, would not have come if Congress party was not serious. However, he said due to the non-serious and dishonest approach of some leaders including KCR on the issue, a decision on the issue was still pending.

Stating that KCR was misleading the people of Telangana and the leaders and workers of his own party, he asked TRS workers to understand his move.
