Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy on Friday stated that there was no question of giving permission to Telangana March as the Intelligence wing has clearly hinted that the activists would resort to attack properties of Seemandhra people.

Addressing a press conference at the State Police Headquarters here, the DGP said that the intelligence wing has alerted that some anti-social elements would participate in the March and cause law and order problem apart from resorting to damage the properties of Seemandhra leaders. He said that the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has been asked to postpone the March to some other day as Ganesh immersion and International Conference on Biodiversity were falling on September 29 and October 1. He said that the police might consider giving permission to the March if the TPJAC shifts the location and postpones the date. “The police have no objection to give permission for March if the JAC adjourns it to some other date,” he said.

The DGP said that clear instructions have been given to the police officials to take stern action those who take law into their hands and cause law and order problem. “In the name of democracy, we should not deter the freedom of others,” he said. Sophisticated cameras have been established at all sensitive places in the city to record the Ganesh immersion and Telangana March, he said.

Asking that who would be held responsible for damage of public properties, he questioned whether the TPJAC would shoulder the responsibility for violence in the March. How could they ensure that the March would be held in a violent-free and peaceful manner? he questioned. He said that the police have made elaborate arrangements to maintain peace and appealed to people to cooperate with police.

Dinesh Reddy said that the police would not spare the arsonists who damaged toll plaza at the Outer Ring Road in Nanakramguda-Puppalaguda. He suspected that the involvement of Telangana United Front members behind the incident.
