Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday indicated that many MLAs of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party from the region would defect to join the Trs.
Briefing the media after the Trs politburo meeting at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said that many MLAs from other parties are in touch with the Trs leadership and could join any time. Without naming the parties or the MLAs, he said that the Trs was gaining political strength every day. He made these comments while slamming TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for not moving No Confidence Motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. "At least 30 MLAs are required to move the No Trust Motion. Since we (Trs) are just 17, we can't do that. However, soon we may touch that number," he said.
During the politburo meeting, which was attended by Medak MP Vijayashanti besides other MLAs and leaders, passed four resolutions. The Trs politburo demanded that the Telangana, as it existed on October 31, 1956, be restored; the UPA Government introduce Telangana Bill in the winter session of the Parliament; State Government stop using Preventive Detention Act against the Telangana activists and the entire region be declared as 'drought hit'.
KCR said that since the resignations of MLAs and MPs were yet to be accepted, the Trs legislators would participate in the ensuring sessions of Parliament and Assembly. However, they would stall the session demanding formation of Telangana state. He also announced the party would launch Telangana Sadhana Padyatra from November 16 to 21 across the region.
The Trs president also ruled out accepting the second States Reorganisation Commission for the formation of Telangana. He said the Congress leaders were making contradictory statements only to confuse the people. However, he said that the party was waiting for the final statement from Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on the issue. He warned that the Trs would launch a 'stormy' agitation if the Centre decides against giving statehood for the region.
