Jagan promises the moon, seeks 35 MPs

Ysr Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday promised the moon to the people of the state by bringing back the ‘golden rule’ of his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Addressing a massive gathering of at Idupulapaya at Kadapa district where the Ysr Congress Party is holding its first plenary, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy recalled the services of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and said that he would ensure that his father’s schemes would be implemented in letter and spirit by plugging the leaks and loopholes.

The plenary, held to coincide with Dr YSR’s 62nd birth anniversary, saw Mr Jaganmohan Reddy vowing not only to implement his late father’s schemes, but to go one better by launching and implementing even better programmes in the course of time.

Starting the plenary after paying floral tributes to YSR Samadhi at Idupulapaya, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy said that he would take inspiration from his father and launch a slew of new schemes.

The YSR Congress chief said that he would eradicate poverty by educating the poor families and by distributing land to the homeless poor.

He promised to distribute an acre of land to poor farmers and provide them all help to harvest crops by providing 9 hour supply of free power. Besides this, the farmers will also get interest free loans.

Mr Jaganmohan Reddy also vowed to provide the farmers with Rs 3 lakh as loan with Rs 25 paise interest. He said that his party, if voted to power, would set aside Rs 3,000 crore to provide Minimum Support Price for the farm produce.

For storing foodgrains, 40 lakh square feet of godown space would be created in villages across the state.

Besides this, the poor will 30 kg of rice at Rs 2 a kg would be provided to the poor.

To eradicate poverty, children from poor families would be provided free education from LKG to PG, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy promised.

He said that Rs 500 would be given for students every month students studying up to tenth class, Rs 700 for Intermediate students and Rs 1000 for degree level students and named the programme as `Ammavodi’.

The Kadapa MP added that the pensions for physically challenged children would be increased to Rs 500 to Rs 1000 and pension for the aged would be increased to Rs 700 from the existing Rs 200.

He added that that the Self Help Group women would be provided interest free loans and employment would be provided under employment guarantee scheme to farmers and weavers.

Besides this, 104 helpline ambulance services would be given for each mandal and hospitals in state would be upgraded with facilities.

The 102 veterinary service and 103 service health clinics would established in villages to provide healthcare facility, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy added.

He also promised to make villages liquor-free by removing belt shops. Apart from this, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy also promised to construct 10 lakh houses for poor every year.

The Ysr Congress Party president appealed to the people to elect 35 MPs from his party to fulfil these promises.
