Thanking the people of Kadapa and party workers for his victory in the by-elections, YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday stated that the people of the constituency taught a fitting lesson to both the ruling Congress and main opposition Telugu Desam Party by rejecting their candidates.
Talking to media persons after his victory, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy stated that both the Congress and TDP cheated the people and forgot to address the people’s problems of the state, particularly the rain-hit farmers. He blamed both the parties, the Congress as the ruling party and the TDP which has the responsibility of being the main opposition, of failure to address the problems faced by the farmers.
He said the verdict given by the people of the constituency will lay foundation stone for a change in the political scenario of the state.
The people rejected both the TDP and Congress after they resorted to mudslinging and targeted him and his family members by leveling baseless allegations, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy said.
He also added the Congress had tried to project itself as the political heir of his later father, despite the government having failed to implement the schemes launched by his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Reacting on the stability in the state, the YSR Congress Party chief said there is no threat to the government as the TDP has already colluded with the Congress.
However, if the government falls on its own, it would be good for poor people, he stated.
Thanking the voters and God for his victory, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy also expressed his gratitude to his father blessings him in the elections.
Stating that he is observing 48 hour hunger fast in Guntur only to highlight farmers’ problems, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy demanded that the government ensure Minimum Support Price for their farm produce.
He disclosed that party plenary will be organized at Idupulaya on YSR Ghat on July 8, YSR’s birthday.
The party agenda, principles and policy matters will be finalized in the plenary.
“I will elicit opinion of the people in the plenary and announce what steps I will take for the welfare of people of the state,” he stated.
