In what is seen as a move to distance the Minorities away from Ysr Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy Pradesh, Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party has hatched a conspiracy to use him as a `political tool’ to come to power in the state.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief stated that BJP has deputed Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy to lure Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to the BJP.
“If the voters exercised their franchise in favour of Ysr Congress Party it is nothing but voting for the BJP,” Mr Srinivas stated.
“As the BJP is not thriving in the state, it has deputed Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy to lure Mr Jaganmohan Reddy into the party to come to power through the backdoor,” the Congress state chief said. He continued, “the BJP has launched a hidden agenda taking the by-elections as an opportunity.”
The PCC chief wondered who Mr Jaganmohan Reddy would tie up with if he wins the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. “Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is opposed to both the Congress and the TDP. The only option left for him is to tie up with the BJP,” Mr Srinivas stated.
The PCC chief further promised to provide the media with more fodder on this angle soon.
Reacting on the properties and assets declared by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy through his affidavit while filing his by-election nominations, Mr Srinivas said that the Congress would utilize this in the election campaign if needed.
The PCC chief also denied that the Congress had any need or inclination to get namesakes of the YSR Congress chief file nominations.
Referring to the reports of disciplinary action against party Legislators supporting Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Srinivas stated that he had not received any complaint from District Congress Committee members.
However, the PCC chief said that he had already discussed this issue with Congress Floor Leader and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Action against the Legislators would be initiated for their anti-party activities at an appropriate time, Mr Srinivas stated.
