A sensationally made film, The Kerala Story released amidst controversies facing bans I'm some states is flying high at the box office. The Kerala Story is doing what The Kashmir Files did last year, sensationalizing a truth and delivering it with emotional narration. Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the domestic box office today in India since its May 5 release.
Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah, the film faced stiff competition from the Hollywood biggie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at the box office. The Kerala Story opened to an average collection of Rs 8 crore net but gained momentum due to word-of-mouth publicity. The film earned Rs 81 crore net during its first week in theatres and added another Rs 90 crore net to its collection in the second week.
The Kerala Story became only the second film to cross Rs 200 Cr mark after Shah Rukh Khan's all-time blockbuster Pathaan. Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 147 crore net) and Salman Khan’s Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 112 crore net) are the only other Hindi films to cross the Rs 100-crore mark in 2023. Now the film Is eyeing Rs 250 Crore in its lifetime.
