2018 Becomes All-Time Industry Hit In Kerala

The latest sensational Malayalam film 2018, has done what has been expected in the last few days. This Tovino Thomas starrer has been based on true events that happened in Kerala during the floods in the year 2018 and has been in production for a while. But, Mollywood is always confident that it will deliver at the box office. Turning everyone's hopes into reality,  '2018' emerged as a massive blockbuster and became an Industry Hit in Malayalam crossing Mohan Lal's Puli Murugan. 

2018 is creating a sensation at the Kerala box office displaying a rock-solid consistency at the ticket windows. The film has now become the new industry hit of the Malayalam Film Industry by beating the earlier top-grosser Puli Murugan. It's not a mean feat to cross lightly Puli Murugan in Malayalam. It's like Titanic for Mollywood in terms of revenue.

Mohan Lal’s Puli Murugan was untouchable by even pan India blockbusters like Baahubali 2 or KGF 2 in Kerala. Even Mohan Lal’s Lucifer had come close but failed to surpass it. Puli Murugan Malayalam version has collected around 135 Crores gross worldwide and 2018 Movie has broken the number in just 17 days with 138 Crores gross worldwide and it’s still going strong at the box office.

Interestingly, 2018’s Rs 138 crore includes Rs 64 crore from the overseas market, while the rest of India has contributed only Rs 9 crore so far, of which Rs 4 crore has come from Karnataka. The 2018 Movie is releasing in other languages this weekend, The film is all set to end up at a very high number in the final run. The OTT release date is expected to be June 9.
