After a series of flops in last year, 2022. He wants to score a success with Selfiee which was released this Friday. But, it seems his fortunes are not changing anytime soon. The film is expected to make less than Rs 2.50 Crores, which is an all-time low for Akshay Kumar. The film debuted in over 3,000 theatres domestically, and is struggling to deliver a respectable numbers unless it gets positive word of mouth which is also highly unlikely with disastrous reviews.
Selfiee's opening of Rs 2.50 crores on its opening day is less than half of what Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon-starrer Shehzada earned on its opening day last Friday which is also declared as a disaster. A major reason for these films' low opening has also been Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which continues to attract audiences to the theatres since its release on January 25.
Both the films has star cast directed by noted filmmakers produced on a huge scale. Even they promoted the films aggressively. One of the main reasons behind their colossal failure from the first day itself is being remakes for popular superhit South films. The original versions of both films are streaming on OTT with Hindi subtitles.
