Mega Star Chiranjeevi's Acharya which was released amidst huge expectations and which featured Mega Star Chiranjeevi and his son Mega Power Star Ram Charan in full-length roles turned out to be a disappointment. Not only mega fans but also Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and director Koratala Shiva got a huge shock with the result.

In the midst of all this, star writer Paruchuri Gopalakrishna shared his thoughts on Acharya's failure. He said Chiranjeevi played a passive role as a Naxalite and the Naxal role limited his heroism which resulted in his failure. He added that even for Shankar Dada Zindabad, he told Chiranjeevi that such a passive role will not work for him. It is known that Chiranjeevi propagated peace, promoting the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi in the film.

He said when he told Chiranjeevi that such a passive role will not work at the box office, Chiranjeevi remarked 'Since you are a rebel, you won't be liking such roles'. But the film flopped at the box office. Paruchuri said for a star like Chiranjeevi who has an immense mass image, people love action and entertainment and not passive and preachy roles. He said even Sr NTR got a shock when he preached peace in his film Srikakulandhra Mahavishnu.

He said even for Balakrishna the same applies. He said Balakrishna did AllariPidugu but the film flopped. He said he told Balakrishna that he should have done dual roles, even the role of the father but instead the makers roped in a North Indian actor. He said at that time Balakrishna and the makes did not listen to him. He said people did not like Balakrishna acting scared in front of an unknown actor playing the role of his father. He said however when Balakrishna played dual roles in Peddannayya the film turned out to be super hit.
